This projects was my final thesis for my Bachelors degree in Media design. It was a proposed application which acted as a social platform where users could debate on controversial topics. Although my main proposal for this project was developing this application in reality the real focus of this project was into the UX Design Methodologies.
This project was essentially a way for me to tackle an intentionally difficult UX project - debating controversial topics online. I began by extensive research in the field of debating so i could clearly outline the UX hurdles I would need to overcome. I then set out to create solutions to these problems, and then develop the solutions beginning with wireframes to be tested by users.
I held one-on-one user testing, focus groups and feedback surveys at every stage of developing iterations of the project. The process outline essentially entailed:
In the end after multiple stages of revisiting my prototypes I developed various features that received the most positive reaction when user testing and created a final high fidelity prototypes with a large selection of features that were a result of the user testing.
This project wasn’t as it appeared on its face value. My goal for this project was to see how effective UX Methodologies could be in creating a functioning final project even in the most difficult or controversial of projects and what I discovered is that with testing the right users and hosting the most effective user testing, there is a solution it any problem a user might face.
